Job opportunity: a 2nd Rights Agent

We are delighted to offer a unique opportunity for another experienced Rights Agent to join our dynamic and award-winning literary agency.

Representing bestselling authors, and with titles that have sold into more than 40 territories, the Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency has a reputation for launching high-profile debuts and negotiating major deals across all media and in multiple territories.

We are looking for an energetic, creative, highly-motivated candidate with at least two years’ experience of working with foreign publishers and/or a proven track record of selling rights around the world. This crucial role is best suited for someone with a long-term desire to make their mark in the rights department using the skills they have already accrued, and lessons still to be learnt.

They should also have a proven track record of administrative excellence, thrive off a large workload, be a voracious reader of contemporary fiction, and take an active interest in the literary trends of overseas markets.

As part of an ambitious team your role will demand a sense of urgency coupled with an aptitude for calm, an articulate phone and writing style, a desire to learn and to initiate, and outstanding organisational standards.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): managing a number of vital markets; handling the rights for big brand authors; launching debuts across the world; working with co-agents; scheduling and attending book fairs; planning and undertaking overseas trips; creating strategies to maximise revenue from foreign rights; contract processing.
