Silent Victim by Caroline Mitchell Wins First Prize at US Readers’ Favorite Awards

Silent Victim by Caroline Mitchell has won first prize in the ‘Psychological Thriller’ category at the 2018 Readers’ Favorite Book Awards.

Caroline Mitchell received the Gold Award, the highest possible accolade. The other four categories were Silver, Bronze, Honorable Mention and Award Finalist. This year’s contest, which is based in the US, featured over 750 winners, and finalists in over 150 categories. Readers’ Favorite is an online platform operated for and by authors. The site has over 1,000 registered authors, who provide reviews for fellow writers and share resources in its thriving community.

Commenting on the psychological thriller, guest reviewer at Reader’s Favorite Anne-Marie Reynolds said: “The suspense builds as you read and culminates in an explosive finale. Be prepared for your mind to be played with; you won’t know the truth until the very end – if that is the end. Excellent book, and I will definitely be looking up more from Caroline Mitchell, one of my new favorite authors.”

Silent Victim is centered around Emma, a loving wife, a devoted mother…and an involuntary killer.

For years Emma has been hiding the dead body of the teacher who seduced her as a teen.

It’s a secret that might have stayed buried if only her life had been less perfect. A promotion for Emma’s husband, Alex, means they can finally move to a bigger home with their young son. But with a buyer lined up for their old house, Emma can’t leave without destroying every last trace of her final revenge…

Returning to the shallow grave in the garden, she finds it empty. The body is gone.

Panicked, Emma confesses to her husband. But this is only the beginning. Soon, Alex will discover things about her he’ll wish he’d learned sooner.

And others he’ll long to forget.

The editor at Thomas & Mercer, Jack Butler, revealed: “Caroline Mitchell’s intricately drawn hints of suspicion made me feel that there was something hidden from view. A truth even more sinister than I thought—and one that made me doubt who the victim really was until the last page.”
