Sophie Pélissier

International Rights Assistant

Sophie Pelissier

Sophie is the International Rights Assistant.

She graduated from Durham University with a degree in English Literature, French and History of Art, and worked for a cultural tour operator before changing careers in 2017 and becoming a bookseller for almost 2 years, at Persephone Books and later Daunt Books. She was also a member of the social media team for Word Factory, the UK’s national short story organisation, promoting workshops and events with award-winning authors such as Chris Power and Deborah Levy.

After interning in the rights team at C&W agency, she joined Madeleine Milburn Agency in November 2019. As a great lover of translated fiction, Sophie is excited about introducing the agency’s exceptional authors to an international readership.

Closer to home she loves a huge variety of genres for adults and children, but two of her perfect books would have to be Pat Barker’s The Silence of the Girls, and Edmund de Waal’s The Hare with the Amber Eyes.
