Christi Daugherty‘s hotly-anticipated debut adult thriller The Echo Killing is published today in the UK by HarperCollins. Readers in the US will have to wait a few more days before it is published there by Saint Martin’s Press/Minotaur on the 13th.
The first in a planned series, The Echo Killing takes place in the sweltering heat of Savannah, Georgia, and follows crime reporter Harper McClain as she investigates a murder that looks identical – in every way – to that of her own mother, 15 years earlier. The police believe the crimes are not connected but Harper isn’t so sure. Her mother’s killer was never caught. Is it possible he’s come back at last? Could she finally solve the crime that has haunted her all her life?
Daugherty is the internationally bestselling author of the YA series Night School. As a former crime reporter who used to work in Savannah, she’s “gone back to my roots. It feels good to be back on those southern streets again. I’m thrilled and honoured to be working with Sarah Hodgson and her outstanding team at HarperCollins. I cannot wait for readers to discover Harper McClain.”
Sarra Manning, Literary Editor of Red magazine, has listed it as one of her top 10 thrillers out this Spring, while Publishers Weekly call it “an engrossing, multi-faceted mystery with snappy dialogue, a well-drawn cast of characters and a sizzling romantic subplot.”
