The Love We Left Behind by Katherine Slee snapped up by Amazon Publishing at auction

We are so delighted to share the news that The Love We Left Behind and The Memory Box by Katherine Slee have sold at auction to Amazon Publishing.

As announced in The Bookseller and Bookbrunch, Sammia Hamer at Lake Union acquired world English rights in two books and The Love We Left Behind will publish in the UK, US and Australia in July 2021.The Love We Left Behind follows the life of Erika Lindberg. She has it all – an adoring fiancé, financial independence and a close-knit group of friends – and yet she still can’t shake the feeling that something is missing from her life. One morning she stumbles across a reminder from her past – a past she has spent the last fifteen years trying to forget. The story revisits Erika’s time spent at Oxford University and how decisions in life and love at this moment in time had a lasting impact, including her relationship with best friend, Niamh O’Donoghue.Slee said: “I am honoured and thrilled to become part of the Amazon Publishing family. This is definitely one of those ‘pinch me’ moments, far exceeding anything I could have hoped for. Sammia and her team have been so incredibly welcoming and supportive of The Love We Left Behind and I can’t wait to see what happens next.”

Hamer said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming Katherine onto the Lake Union list. I devoured this intoxicating novel in one sitting and was blown away by Katherine’s writing and how with the dual perspective of Erika and Niamh, Katherine navigates readers through the complexities of their life decisions and the resounding impact that love has upon their friendship. This is a truly relatable story of heartbreak that really resonated with me and I cannot wait to get it out into readers’ hands!”
